Chamber accepting nominations for H. Pettus Randall, III Entrepreneur of the Year and Rising Star Award

Each year, at the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony, we have the pleasure of presenting awards to two local business owners whose innovation, determination, and drive is making a significant impact in their respective industries and in West Alabama.

The H. Pettus Randall, III Entrepreneur of the Year Award is named in honor of local entrepreneur H. Pettus Randall, III, who built Randall Publishing, now Randall Reilly, into one of the 25 largest publishing companies in America.  Pettus Randall passed away in 2002, but his and his family’s impact on the Tuscaloosa community is still felt far and wide.  He epitomized what it means to be a great entrepreneur and equally important, how to be a wonderful community servant and advocate.  This award recognizes an individual who best embodies Mr. Randall's innovation, leadership, optimism, and vision.

Similarly, the Rising Star Award is presented to an individual who is creating the ideas; is willing to take the risks; is believing in themselves; and is investing their time, talent, and treasure to make their business successful.  This individual exemplifies the true spirit of entrepreneurship and through their hard work, determination, creativity, and resourcefulness, they have established a new venture in the last three years and is viewed by their peers as a "Rising Star" in the community.

The deadline for nomination is Wednesday, Dec. 14.
