Dr. Cathy Randall Speaks to Women's Leadership Alliance
November 1, 2018
Dr. Cathy Randall encouraged attendees to lean in with confidence and courage at the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama’s 2018 Women’s Leadership Alliance Fall Luncheon, held Thursday, Nov. 1 at Embassy Suites.
Citing statistics that indicate just 7 percent of women negotiate their initial salary in contrast to 57 percent of men, Randall, the Chairman of the Board of Pettus Randall Holdings LLC and the former Chairman of the Board of Randall Publishing Company, urged women to recognize their worth, noting they ask for 30 percent less money than men do, and think they deserve 20 percent less.
Randall also discussed the upcoming 2019 bicentennial celebration, of which she serves as chair. She asked attendees to talk to groups they are involved with and dedicate at least one event to the celebration.
“We were truly thrilled to have Dr. Randall join us for this year’s event,” said Women’s Leadership Alliance Chair Beth Feller. “She has worked tirelessly to serve our community, and we are so fortunate to have the benefit of her experience and wisdom. We were honored for Dr. Randall to share with us her message of business and community leadership in West Alabama, especially as Tuscaloosa prepares for Bicentennial celebrations in 2019.”
The 2018 Women’s Leadership Alliance Fall Luncheon was presented by Miers Pass Philanthropy. Gold Sponsors for the event were Alabama One Credit Union and Burnum-Hahn Exterminators, Inc.
