Leadership Tuscaloosa 2024-25 Class to Host Dedication Ceremony for New Hoops 4 New Heights Project
August 19, 2025
The Leadership Tuscaloosa 2024-25 class is proud to announce the completion of its class project, New Hoops 4 New Heights — the construction of a new basketball court and pavilion at the New Heights Community Resource Center. To celebrate this milestone, the class will host a dedication ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the center, where the new recreational space will be officially presented to the community. Guests will enjoy light refreshments and photo opportunities.
In addition to the public celebration, the Leadership Tuscaloosa 2024-25 class will also recognize donors, class members, community partners and elected officials who made the project possible.
“This project is about more than building a basketball court and pavilion — it’s about creating a lasting place for youth and families to gather, connect and grow,” said Karen Burklew, project spokesperson and graduate of the Leadership Tuscaloosa 2024-25 class. “We’re thrilled to see it come to life and to celebrate with the people who made it possible.”
The New Heights Community Resource Center is a one-of-a-kind facility in West Alabama that brings together multiple organizations under one roof to provide wraparound services in education, homelessness prevention, youth programming, mental health and health care.
