Nominations Open for Northport Citizen of the Year
July 2, 2018
The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama is seeking nominations for the Northport Citizen of the Year.
The purpose of the award is to recognize achievements made by Northport citizens involved in making Northport a better community, and nominees will be judged on the outstanding contributions they have made to benefit the general welfare or growth of the city.
The awards ceremony, held in October, will also include special awards in the categories of business, education, historian/pioneer and religion.
Nominations may be made by a civic, social, educational, business or religious group, or by an individual resident of Northport, and up to two letters of recommendation may be included. The nominee must have been a legal resident of Northport for five years, and must currently reside in Northport.
The nominee must have made a significant contribution to the civic, social, religious, political and/or community growth of Northport outside his/her related job or elected responsibilities.
The recipient will be selected by secret ballot of a blind voting committee.
The deadline for nominations is August 3, 2018.
