Eighteen local businesses to benefit from Chamber, Community Foundation fund
The Small Business Relief Fund has awarded over $60,000 in funds to 18 local businesses in the first round of funding today. The fund, a partnership between the Chamber and the Community Foundation of West Alabama, also expects to make additional disbursements later this week.
“We are pleased to be able to assist our local small businesses during this challenging time,” said Bobby Bragg, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Chamber. “Supporting our friends and neighbors in the West Alabama business community is critical.”
The Small Business Relief Fund includes donations from a range of entities, including local businesses. Recipients are selected by a committee composed of business and community leaders.
Jim Page, President and CEO of the Chamber, stressed the need for cooperation at this time.
“We’re not only trying to assist our small business owners – we’re working to secure a strong future for our local economy,” Page said. “Initiatives such as the SBRF and initiatives from our local governments will help keep West Alabamians working.”
Additional funding is needed, Page said, and donations can be made via the Chamber’s and the Foundation’s website. “We’re proud of our business community for stepping up and helping to fund the program,” he said. “The more we all pitch in, the more businesses we can help.”
