Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools-Middle Gains New Adopt-A-School Partner
June 11, 2025
The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama’s Adopt-A-School program is proud to announce a new partnership between Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools-Middle and A Mother’s Love, a youth empowerment and mentoring organization. This collaboration will introduce a structured mentoring program focused on helping students thrive academically, socially, and personally.
“We believe that a student’s level of exposure often determines their level of expansion,” said CEO of A Mother’s Love, Alecia Raquel. “By partnering with schools, businesses can provide students with opportunities to explore a variety of career paths and entrepreneurial ventures—experiences many students may not otherwise encounter. Our mission is to expose students to new places, people, and possibilities that help them discover their potential and inspire them to become the best version of themselves.”
Through this partnership, A Mother’s Love will provide consistent mentorship sessions centered on academic improvement, behavior, goal setting, unity, and career readiness. The organization will also offer incentive-based rewards for academic achievement, reinforcing student success through positive motivation.
Additionally, A Mother’s Love will help meet basic needs by contributing to the school’s Urban Essentials Closet and Dress for the Occasion program—initiatives designed to ensure students have access to clothing and personal care items that promote confidence and preparedness both in and out of the classroom.
“At Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools-Middle, we are committed to meeting the needs of all students through high-quality instruction, innovation, and comprehensive support services,” said Principal Dr. Constance Pewee-Childs. “We are thrilled to welcome A Mother’s Love as a valued partner in this important work.”
This new partnership joins ongoing support from The University of Alabama's Office of Teaching Innovation and Digital Education (OTIDE), further strengthening the resources available to students at Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools-Middle.
