Tuscaloosa Walmart Neighborhood Market Launches Online Grocery Ordering Program
June 15, 2017
Walmart Neighborhood Market became the first grocery store in Tuscaloosa to offer customers an online shopping option this week as the store launched an online ordering and grocery pickup program.
The service, run by a team of five employees, enables customers to login via online app or desktop platform, and place an order. Personal shoppers fill the order, and then deliver to and load the customer’s vehicle at their pre-selected time.
“I hope customers find this free, fast, convenient service enjoyable,” said Walmart’s Melinda Fike. “This will be a great option for busy moms, seniors, University of Alabama students and even businesses.”
Tuscaloosa City Councilman Eddie Pugh said he was happy to see Walmart Neighborhood Market rolling out the service, and he hoped customers across the area would use it frequently.
“Walmart Neighborhood Market is the only grocery store in District 6, and the residents are so glad to have them here,” he said. “This service is innovative and shows Walmart is moving forward in our community. They have nice, friendly employees, and it’s a bonus that all of these online sales will stay in Tuscaloosa.”
Fike said other area Walmart stores, including Northport, plan to offer online grocery ordering in the future. To use the service, visit Walmart.com/grocery, and enter a Tuscaloosa area zip code to find the Hargrove Road store.
