West Alabama Community and Business Leaders Visit Montgomery

The Chamber of Commerce recently led a delegation of West Alabama community and business leaders to the state capitol in Montgomery for a day of engagement, collaboration, and policy discussion. The visit provided attendees with valuable insight into the legislative process and key issues impacting the region and state.
Participants included members of the Leadership Tuscaloosa class and Anchor Tuscaloosa, whose presence highlighted the continued commitment to developing strong civic and business leadership across West Alabama. The group had the opportunity to meet directly with local legislators to discuss priorities important to the Tuscaloosa area, including education, workforce development, economic growth, and infrastructure.
Special presentations were delivered by Dr. Eric Mackey, Alabama Superintendent of Education, who shared updates on K-12 initiatives and the state’s efforts to strengthen educational outcomes. Bill Poole, Alabama Director of Finance, provided an overview of the state’s fiscal outlook and budget priorities. Members of the Governor’s team also addressed the group, offering perspectives on statewide economic development strategies and legislative goals.
The visit reinforced the importance of collaboration between business leaders and policymakers. By engaging directly with state officials in Montgomery, West Alabama leaders strengthened relationships and gained a clearer understanding of how state-level decisions shape opportunities for local communities.
