
Women’s Leadership Alliance and Diverse Business Council Partnering for Women’s History Month Luncheon

In celebration of Women’s History Month, The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama’s Women’s Leadership Alliance (WLA) and Diverse Business Council (DBC) are coming together to host a luncheon titled Empowered Women Rising Together. The luncheon will take place on Thursday, March 20, from noon to 1 p.m. at the West Alabama Workforce and Community Development Center in the Regions Boardroom.
Presented by Temporary Emergency Services, this luncheon will feature an inspiring panel discussion with accomplished women leaders from diverse backgrounds, sharing their experiences, insights, and advice for professional and personal growth.
“We are excited to bring together these two Chamber groups for an event that highlights the impact of women in leadership and business,” said the Chamber’s Senior Director of Programs and Operations Alicia Gregory. “Through this collaboration, we aim to foster meaningful conversations, celebrate achievements, and inspire future generations of women leaders.”
Meet the Panelists:
Alyson Baxter, The University of Alabama
A native of Birmingham, Alyson Baxter serves as the Assistant Vice President for Finance and Operations Shared Administrative Services at The University of Alabama. She is actively involved in leadership roles within The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, including serving as Treasurer on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. Alyson is an alumna of Leadership Tuscaloosa and has presented at prestigious conferences, including the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers’ (SACUBO) Annual Meeting.Dr. Marleshia Hall, Poppin’ Sisters Popcorn & Treats
Dr. Hall is a dedicated educator with over 16 years of experience and currently serves as the Division Chair of Natural Sciences and a Biology Instructor at Shelton State Community College. She is also the co-owner of Poppin’ Sisters Popcorn & Treats, a gourmet popcorn company offering over 25 flavors of handcrafted popcorn and treats. Her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for education make her a dynamic leader in both business and academia.Diana Torres, Tuscaloosa Latino Coalition
Originally from Colombia, Diana Torres is a social communicator, journalist, entrepreneur, and Spanish teacher at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She runs a creative communications and marketing company with clients in Michigan and Alabama and actively contributes to community initiatives, including the Tuscaloosa Latino Coalition and Success by 6, a United Way of West Alabama program.
This luncheon provides an opportunity for women in the community to engage in meaningful dialogue, network, and gain inspiration from these distinguished panelists and fellow attendees.
