
Donny Jones serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Workforce Officer for The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, as well as the Executive Director of The Chamber's workforce development division, West AlabamaWorks. With over 27 years of dedicated service to the community through The Chamber, Donny has played a pivotal role in advancing regional workforce development. He effectively leverages local, state, and federal resources to support both K-12 and adult job placement and training programs. As part of the leadership team, The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama was named Chamber of the Year in 2021 by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. In 2024, West AlabamaWorks was recognized as one of ten national exemplars by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, adding to numerous state and national accolades received under his guidance.
Donny’s extensive involvement in workforce development includes serving on various committees and boards, such as the Alabama Committee on Credentialing and Career Pathways Technical Advisory Committee, Alabama Workforce Council, Alabama Grade Level Reading Committee, Alabama Textbook Committee, State Technical Advisory Council Hospitality Committee Chair and the Governor’s Career Technical Education Task Force. Donny currently serves on many boards and foundations including the Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Advisory board, Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama board, National Skills Coalition National WIOA Advisory Council, American Chamber of Commerce Executives Foundation Board, Tuscaloosa Education Foundation, ACT Southern Regional Council, West Alabama Leadership Prayer Breakfast Committee and AAMA OEM Roundtable Member.
He has been recognized for his contributions, receiving the Public Service Award for West Alabama from the Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities. He also holds accreditation as a Certified Chamber Executive, a distinction held by less than 4% of chamber professionals.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Donny is actively engaged in his community and his church, Five Points Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He is married to Carla, an experienced educator, and is the proud father of Carson (25) and Carter (19).
