Leadership & Community Engagement

Leadership Tuscaloosa (LT) is a nine-month program for professional adults in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama, area. LT plays an increasing role in shaping the positive direction of many individuals inclined toward making our community a better place to live, work, and play. The objective of LT is to help meet the community's need for informed, responsible, and effective leadership.

Participants gain increased knowledge of the area's economic, social, historical, and political issues and needs. Leadership Tuscaloosa intends to provide a foundation of knowledge that potential leaders can use to aid their involvement and success in community endeavors.

Our goal is to make each selected participant more aware of and sensitive to the community's wide range of needs and opportunities through shared experiences with a cross-section of competent fellow citizens.

Applications generally open in late spring, and each class is typically announced in the summer. Each applicant must participate in an interview as part of the application process. Each class has monthly sessions from September to April, with a graduation ceremony in May.
