Leaders to Legends
Leaders to Legends is an innovative program designed to empower students in Tuscaloosa County to become changemakers in their schools and communities.
Built around three pillars, the program will focus on character development, career pathways and community outreach. Community leaders will mentor the students, and the students will participate in character-building activities and service projects.
Leaders to Legends is a reimagined version of The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama’s Forerunners program. The new program is a collaboration between The University of Alabama, The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, the Leadership Tuscaloosa Alumni Association, and the Tuscaloosa City and county school systems.
The program's inaugural year will coincide with the 2025-2026 academic year. Students will participate in monthly, hands-on sessions exploring Tuscaloosa's economic, social, historical and political landscape.
Applications
Applications are open to all Tuscaloosa City School and Tuscaloosa County School System students who are currently in their sophomore year of high school (10th grade) and will be in their junior year of high school (11th grade) during the program.
The 2025-26 application period was February 3 - March 7, 2025.
